President Murmu Honors Gallantry: A Nation Salutes Its Heroes
New Delhi witnessed a poignant and inspiring ceremony on May 22, 2025, as President Smt. Droupadi Murmu conferred prestigious gallantry awards during Phase-I of the Defence Investiture Ceremony 2025. At Rashtrapati Bhawan, a total of six Kirti Chakras (four posthumous) and 33 Shaurya Chakras (seven posthumous) were bestowed upon personnel from the Armed Forces, Central Armed Police Forces, and State/Union Territory Police.
These awards stand as a testament to the raw courage, unparalleled bravery, and selfless dedication displayed by these individuals in the line of duty, often with total disregard for their own personal safety.

Their efforts led to the neutralization and apprehension of dreaded terrorists, along with the recovery of crucial arms and ammunition, making these regions safer for their inhabitants.
Indian Navy's Maritime Prowess: The Indian Navy personnel were recognized for their leadership in anti-piracy operations, which not only resulted in the surrender of pirates but also the successful rescue of hostages. Their valor also extended to displaying remarkable courage during perilous fire-fighting operations on a burning oil tanker, preventing further disaster.
Indian Air Force's Daring Rescues: Awardees from the Indian Air Force demonstrated immense courage in life-threatening situations. Their quick thinking and skillful maneuvering of aircraft, often diverting away from civilian areas to prevent loss of life or property, truly exemplify their dedication to public safety.
CRPF's Fight Against Left-Wing Extremism: The gallantry of CRPF officers was particularly highlighted for their brave actions in Left-Wing Extremism affected areas.
