PM Modi champions "Yoga for Humanity 2.0" at 11th IYD in Visakhapatnam, emphasizing yoga's unifying power for global peace and well-being, aligning with "Yoga for One Earth, One Health."

Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh – Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today addressed the 11th International Day of Yoga (IYD) event in Visakhapatnam, leading celebrations and participating in a yoga session that resonated with the theme "Yoga for One Earth, One Health." He called for a new global movement: "Yoga for Humanity 2.0," where inner peace becomes a global policy.

Yoga: Uniting the World for a Decade

The Prime Minister extended heartfelt greetings on this 11th International Yoga Day, acknowledging how yoga has truly united the world. He reminisced about India's proposal for IYD at the United Nations, a rare instance of 175 countries uniting for a common good. "Eleven years on, yoga has become an integral part of the lifestyle of millions across the globe," Shri Modi stated, expressing pride in its reach, from Braille texts for Divyang individuals to scientists practicing yoga in space and enthusiastic youth participation in Yoga Olympiads. He emphasized, "Yoga is for everyone and for all, Beyond Boundaries, Beyond Backgrounds, Beyond age or ability."

Visakhapatnam: A Confluence of Nature and Progress Embraces Yoga

Shri Modi expressed his delight at being in Visakhapatnam, a city he described as a blend of nature and progress. He lauded the excellent organization of the event and congratulated Chief Minister Shri Chandrababu Naidu and Shri Pawan Kalyan for their leadership. He specifically praised the "Yogandhra Abhiyan," a remarkable initiative launched under their guidance, and commended Shri Nara Lokesh for his exemplary commitment, highlighting how he made yoga a true social celebration, inclusive of all sections of society. With over two crore people joining the Yogandhra Abhiyan, the Prime Minister noted this vibrant public participation as the bedrock of a Viksit Bharat.

"Yoga for One Earth, One Health": A Profound Interconnectedness

This year's theme, "Yoga for One Earth, One Health," resonated deeply in the Prime Minister's address. He underscored the profound truth that the health of every entity on Earth is interconnected – from the soil that produces food to the rivers that provide water, and the animals and plants that share our ecosystems. "Yoga awakens us to this interconnectedness and guides us on a journey toward oneness with the world," he explained. He articulated yoga's transformative power, transitioning individuals from "Me to We," fostering care that extends from personal well-being to the environment, society, and the planet. This spirit, he asserted, encapsulates the very soul of India and the ancient wisdom of "Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah" – the welfare of all is one's sacred duty.

Yoga for Humanity 2.0: Inner Peace as Global Policy

Addressing the rising global stress and instability, Shri Modi presented yoga as "the pause button humanity needs, to breathe, to balance, to become whole again." He made a poignant appeal to the global community, urging that this Yoga Day mark the beginning of "Yoga for Humanity 2.0," where inner peace becomes global policy. He envisioned yoga transcending personal practice to become a medium for global partnerships, guiding the world from conflict to cooperation, and from stress to solutions.

Strengthening Yoga Science and Global Dissemination

The Prime Minister highlighted India's commitment to strengthening the science of yoga through modern research. He noted that leading medical institutions in the country are actively engaged in yoga research to establish its scientific relevance within contemporary medical practices. He specifically praised AIIMS, New Delhi, for its significant research findings demonstrating yoga's impact on cardiac and neurological disorders, as well as women's health and mental well-being.

Through the National Ayush Mission, yoga and wellness are being actively promoted, with digital technology playing a crucial role. Over one million events registered nationwide via the Yoga Portal and YogAndhra Portal underscore yoga's remarkable expansion.

India: A Global Hub for Healing

Shri Modi expressed satisfaction at the rising global popularity of the "Heal in India" mantra, with India emerging as a leading destination for healing. He mentioned the development of a Common Yoga Protocol and the efforts of the Yoga Certification Board, which has trained over 6.5 lakh volunteers and recognized around 130 institutions. The inclusion of a 10-day yoga module in medical colleges and the deployment of trained yoga teachers across Ayushman Arogya Mandirs are further steps in building a holistic wellness ecosystem. To facilitate global access, special e-Ayush visas will now be provided.

Addressing Obesity and Promoting Healthy Lifestyles

Drawing attention to the growing global challenge of obesity, Shri Modi reiterated his call from the Mann Ki Baat program to reduce oil consumption by 10 percent in daily diets. He urged citizens worldwide to join this initiative, emphasizing that cutting down on oil, avoiding unhealthy diets, and practicing yoga are vital components of a healthy lifestyle.

A Jan Andolan for Global Peace

Concluding his address, the Prime Minister called upon everyone to transform yoga into a "jan andolan" – a people's movement – envisioning a movement that would lead the world towards peace, health, and harmony. He urged individuals to begin their day with yoga for balance and societies to embrace yoga to be free of stress. "Yoga should serve as a thread that weaves humanity together, Yoga for One Earth, One Health should become a global resolution," he affirmed.
